There are many ways to get involved in Quilts for Care Leavers

  • Make Quilts

Our makers are the heart of our organisation, making well over 1000 quilts each year and rising. We accept completed quilts, but you can also request to send your quilt tops (with backing and binding) to members of our long arm team for finishing for a contribution towards wadding and thread costs.

  • Join The Block Drive

If you’re pressed for time, find handling full sized quilts tricky, or even just fancy a change you can join our monthly block drives. A different member of our group volunteers to manage each month’s block drive, setting the block and fabric choices and receiving completed blocks to make up into quilts.

  • Make Morsbags

When we send our quilts out to young people we often provide a Morsbag to put them in. These fabric bags are fantastic for using up leftover pieces of furnishing weight fabrics that aren’t suitable for quilting. Check out our Morsbags page for the details on how we’ve upsized the bag design to fit our quilts.

  • Join the Longarm Team

We have a fabulous volunteer longarm quilting team who help us to finish all of our block drive quilts and are available to help complete our makers’ quilts. Contact us and tell us a little bit about yourself if this is something you might be interested in getting involved in.

  • Organise a Presentation from Q4CL

We love talking to your quilting groups about our project and can organise an online presentation or a visit. Let us know where you meet and when and we’ll either find someone local to you to come along, or organise a time to ‘meet’ your group over Zoom or Googlemeet.

  • Organise a Sew Day

Although we don’t have regional groups or sections, some of our members love nothing more than to get together and sew. Keep an eye on our Facebook Makers’ Group for posts about groups local to you, and maybe even have a go at organising your own.

  • Q4CL Printable Flyer

Download a printable version of our most recent flyer to have our quilt guidelines to hand or to share with your local quilting friends.

  • Donate

We welcome donations of time, fabric and financial support. Our wonderful Fabric Friends team sort and distribute hundreds of metres of fabric, unfinished projects and orphan blocks to be made into quilts for our recipients.
